Cassandra Alberto, Winter in Spring (PLACES 2024)

Although it was Spring, Lake Tekapo (New Zealand) had been blessed with snowfall late in September of 2023. Commemorating my first hike in snow, this photo serves as a reminder of textures in the scenery I noticed throughout the day; fluffy snow, rough branches from forest trees and the slippery, icy track between Mt John’s base and summit.
