The Hamer tribe, in the Omo Valley, have a day long celebration known as Bull Jumping, which focusses on a young male transitioning into adulthood. Part of this celebration involves the whipping ceremony, where young girls volunteer to be whipped, exposing their bare back to a long, flexible, bamboo whip.
