Unfamiliar Homes explores the experience of navigating cities as a temporary inhabitant. Made with a plastic Holga camera on medium-format film, the images document fragments of Bangkok and Melbourne encountered through wandering rather than destination. Shadows, architectural forms, and quiet urban edges create spaces that feel both recognisable and disorienting. The camera’s optical imperfections, vignetting, blur and light fall-off; mirror the uncertainty of moving through unfamiliar environments. Rather than describing specific locations, the photographs evoke moments where a place feels simultaneously intimate and distant. Together they consider how cities can become provisional homes while remaining fundamentally strange.
