Martin Leitch, Two Sides of 'Pooh' (PEOPLE 2026)

I first met Pooh a few weeks after migrating from Victoria to my new home in South Australia. Since then, we have met on many occasions, exchanged stories and shared delicious meals. From that initial welcoming meeting, I have been fascinated by his beard, his striking physical feature, and have come to appreciate his contrasting personality. He enjoys chatting to strangers as he walks his dog, Raji, but also spending time in his own company. Through the use of light, this photograph portrays the solitary Pooh and, in contrast, the welcome with which he engages new and old friends.
