Panthera Leo (Lion), is the national animal of Eswatini however the precious big cat previously extinct nationally exists in small, reintroduced populations within Hlane Royal National Park. The pink of the infrared is symbolic of the strikingly artificial nature of the fenced restricted spaces I’m calling ‘wildlife farms’, because like Eswatini, the species selection is managed by man thus impacting the balance of the greater eco-system, it’s landscape and flora micro-diversity, determining which animals will survive or thrive. Ironically, the saddening twist of tourism supporting conservation means the animals that draw the cameras ultimately stand the best chance of survival. Eswatini 2023
