judy knowles, Too Late To Rescue (ANIMALS 2024)
I tried to rescue this wombat joey from it's dead mother one winters day. I had to cut the pouch to pull it out and I took it home in the hope it may be revived with warmth. It was a stark reminder to always check the pouch. I photographed it prior to the removal, as it was lifeless and I wanted to document the tragedy of Australia's endless amount of roadkill, and what there reality is for many pouch young in a country with so many marsupial species.
