Samoan/Australian writer, performer and artist Tommy Misa reacts to the space and background chosen for this portrait sitting. Misa draws on his Samon culture to create a fictional clown called Pepe Toa who is in many ways an ode to his late father. Missa takes inspiration from Samoan culture, clowning, weaving and architecture. Coming to terms with the death of his father. This is a story of joy and grief and how they hold each other at simultaneous times. How you need one to have the other. It is a celebration of the different cultures that make up contempory Australian life. --
