Michelle Bowen, The Seahorse (PLACES 2026)

Kati Thanda (Lake Eyre) has many faces and states depending on the time of day, year and prevailing conditions. When the lake floods and the water envelopes the salt, life blooms, tiny pieces of land metamorphise into everchanging shapes, patterns and textures and the canvas becomes dynamic. What you see is only limited by your imagination. On this day, an ethereal, dreamlike state emerged when salt, water and wind formed around a tiny strip of land. The illusion of a moving seahorse was born.
