Nicola Pearson, The Quiet Between Worlds (PLACES 2026)
The first time I laid eyes on Lindy Lee’s Ouroboros at the National Gallery of Australia, I imagined it breathing light into a winter’s night... Its illuminated core dissolving into a heavy mist, tendrils of light suspended in moisture like a portal between worlds. At 11pm, on a freezing Canberra evening, while suburbia slept, I went back. The long exposure settled into place, revealing what the eye could not see — light exhaled into the darkness, time stretched thin. The quiet between worlds.
