James Rumble, The golden age of steam (PEOPLE 2025)
I have been involved in the rail industry for 21 years in both a voluntary and professional capacity. My true photographic passion is not just capturing the magic that is steam locomotives, but specifically the people who are able to master the art of communicating with 125 year old technology that is the truest mix of brains and brawn. Steam loco crews need to be at one with both themselves and be able to read in to the soul of their steeds, often described as the closest inanimate object to having personality and being alive. My photography aims to capture the intimate moments of both work and recovery when on a steam locomotive.
