Serhii Diedushev, The Door to Nowhere (PLACES 2025)

A door stands alone in the wild, without a house, without a wall, without a clear purpose. It is numbered and locked — as if it still guards something, or someone. Surrounded by bare winter branches and urban decay, it becomes a symbol of displacement, of abandoned paths, of promises that never opened. This image reflects on the absurdity of human-made boundaries and the way structures lose their meaning when context is stripped away. What remains is a question: what are we trying to keep out — or keep in — when the door no longer leads anywhere?
