Sharine Guerra Madoo, The Abyss (PEOPLE 2021)

This photo was taken with a Holga using plastic lenses and 120 mm black and white film. I took it at the UniSA CWE studio and used hard lighting. I wanted to use my camera to paint a story about someone who is trapped in a dark and sunken space. To achieve this, I took inspiration from my favourite artists Nan Goldin and Jeffrey Smart. So, alike them, my aim is to manipulate my images to the minimum.
