Danielle Mickan, Tectonic Motion (PLACES 2026)

Chasing the light in Aotearoa is a source of pure joy, as I am intuitively drawn to the sacred calling of its landscape. Working in monochrome allows me to distill the essence of what is felt as much as seen, stripping away distraction to reveal the interplay of light, shadow, pattern, and form. These images reflect not only how I observe the land, but how I experience it—through a deep sense of connection, stillness, and presence. Each photograph is captured in those decisive moments when light, form, and intuition align, allowing the landscape to speak in its own quiet way.
