Angela Harmston, Taking Time (PLACES 2023)

This image was taken during a time when I spent many months working away from home. On this day, I was able to take a trip to one of my favourite locations in Queensland for some much needed time out and to enjoy the serenity it offered. It wasn't until I was walking to return to my car that I snapped this image, which till this day, is one of my personal favourites. I love the juxtaposition of the city landscape with all of its industrialism combined with nature in all of its beauty. The city represents all the tasks we must complete every day in these challenging and often frantic times while the beach represents the happiness and peacefulness that we need to maintain our inner balance. The lone silhouetted couple draws you in and serves as a reminder to stop, take a moment, and spend time with our loved ones. As the reflections in this image are balanced, so too should our lives.
