Les Irwig, SurfRowers -taking the strain (PEOPLE 2021)

Surfboat rowing is an iconic Australian sport.Each boat has 4 rowers and an experienced sweep who controls the boat using the oar at the stern guiding and encouraging the crew to greater effort as they strain to head out to sea, as shown here. Photographs using high shutter speed seem snap-frozen rather than real. So I have followed the movement with a slow shutter speed as pioneered a century ago by the Bragaglia brothers.
