Peter Reynolds, Stormfront (PLACES 2025)

A storm passed over Sydney from the southwest during the early afternoon of Wednesday, 27 December 2023, bringing strong wind and sheets of rain. This photo aptly captures the ominous clouds bearing down on the city just before the storm broke. This image was originally shot in colour. Editing includes tweaking of lightness using curves, cropping and re-sizing, unsharp mask and application of infrared filter to produce the monochrome effect. Dust specks were cloned out.
