I had been thinking about 'Soul to Soul' for about a decade. Capturing wildlife in photographs requires patience as many elements need to align perfectly to create a powerful image. While wandering alone on the plains of Maasai Mara, this female nearly stumbled upon a mating pair of lions. She spotted them just in time and quickly changed direction. We trailed her to a small water hole where she paused to quench her thirst. I positioned myself on the opposite side and luckily found a perfect recess in the ground to capture this shot from a low angle.
