"Sonder" - the profound realization that every passerby has a life as vivid and complex as your own - John Koenig. This series visualises the lives of strangers by cleverly transforming a bustling intersection into a grand public stage—one where each passerby steps into the same role: the main character. This is part of a series, in which the crossing becomes a theatre of fleeting moments. Though many people appear, each frame isolates only one or two figures at a time. Seen from above, and rendered in stark black and white, the compositions erase individuality in the traditional sense—no faces, no identities, no distractions of colour. Yet paradoxically, this uniformity amplifies the emotional weight of each person’s presence.
