Stuart Bell, SENTINEL (ANIMALS 2025)
This magnificent raptor scrutinises its watery domain at Columbia Lake in Canada’s British Columbia. Perhaps waiting for its mate, perhaps its next meal? I have managed to sneak (if that’s even possible) in my sea kayak to near a position and just admire this North American icon. Perched in the upper boughs of its completely lifeless habitat, its nest no doubt made somewhat from the detritus of this very tree, which with hopefulness can withstand the rigours of the upcoming nesting season. Bald Eagles mate for life and build the largest nest of any bird on planet earth.
