While walking along Kina Beach in Tasman, New Zealand, I encountered an unusual sight: a wide-eyed sea monster, partially submerged near the shoreline. With the tide gently rolling over it, the creature remained still, its protruding eyes scanning the world above the waterline — alert, yet oddly serene.
