Hanne Matthews, Sad truth (ANIMALS 2021)

When I took this picture from our backyard, where we can see our neighbors steers, I really didn’t think much emotion about it. But when I saw it on a bigger screen, I started seeing the darker side of it, that the sad fact is, that most of the steers end up on someone’s plate. I’m not a vegetarian or anything like that, but seeing these boys so happy on a paddock eating grass, it seemed so unfair, that these lovely animals cannot enjoy life very long. So I am happy to capture this special little moment of an animal that don’t get much of attention.
