My practice revolves around the question of where the body ends and the spirit begins. This work is about grief and surrender, birthed during a period of loss and sudden unearthing of generational cycles. This features my little brother Ruben on our staircase, who just prior to this work I became a guardian to. Embodying gestures of both crucifixion and flight, he communicates the intense opening of the heart that happens as a result of experiencing the passing of loved ones.
