Unlike female blue-banded bees (Amegilla cingulata), who spend their nights in nests, male blue-banded bees roost on plants or twigs. They use their strong mandibles to grip thin plant stems or leaves as they sleep. Taken using a Panasonic DMC-GX7 camera and Olympus M.60 F2.8 Macro lens, handheld with continuous LED lighting (as a flash would disturb the bee), at f/8, ISO 1600, shutter speed 1/320s on 22nd Dec, 2024 in Bargo, NSW.
