Dianne Susan Hodge, Road to Husavik, Iceland (PLACES 2024)

Title: Heading North on Highway One, Iceland. This image was taken through the windscreen of our hired 4WD whilst driving to the North of Iceland towards Husavik, in April 2023. Spring melt had commenced, resulting in the dramatic contrasts in the landscape. I am fortunate my husband prefers to do the driving, freeing me to capture the journey between stops, which along Highway #1 in many areas of Iceland are few and far between. Very narrow soft verges also negate pulling over regularly or safely. Needless to say, our 5-week self-drive circumnavigation of Iceland was amazing. Image shot using Canon 5D Mark IV, EF70-200mm f/2.8 IS II USM Lens, 1/3200sec @f/9.0, fl 75mm. (Why this lens and not a landscape lens you may ask? My landscape lens unfortunately ceased working on day one of our trip when shooting in minus 10 degrees conditions, so 70 - 200 lens certainly received a good work out!)
