Reexistence is a documentary series portraying women from Feira de São Joaquim, one of the largest open-air markets in Latin America, located in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Dona Creuza has worked at the market for over 20 years. Independent and hardworking, she began working alongside her brother before deciding to build her own business during a difficult period in her life. During our first interview, she became quiet when I asked about her childhood. The following day, she explained : “If I talked about it, I would cry.” Her story carries both resilience and pain. Yet she continues to show up every day with quiet strength and kindness, embodying the spirit of reexistence.
