I wanted to explore contrast. Dark vs light. Hard vs soft. The beauty of the harsh, charred earth and the beauty of regrowth that we witnessed in the aftermath. I incorporated the model to represent our ties to this earth and how we all suffered along with her. And of course the contrast of the soft female form in the harsh environment. This picture tries to capture the pain of the past, the beauty of our connection to the land and the rebirth of new life.
