Bernadette Heald, Prelude To The Next Life (PLACES 2022)

Life and death are closely entwined, focusing on the raw beauty that comes from a living entity making its final stand. This digital monochrome photograph was taken on a glorious summer's day, the ground was dry and everything living thing in the vicinity was holding it's breath waiting for the promising rains to come. It's that moment of anticipation while waiting for the change to come, the possibility in the future is what I am capturing in this image.
