Recently fledged, a young Baudin's Black Cockatoo peers through the shelter of a mature peppermint tree in suburban South Bunbury, Western Australia. Curiosity lingers in his eyes and posture as he pauses to acknowledge the stranger observing him. Its these fleeting moments of personality and connection that endure long after the encounter itself has passed.
