The most beautiful trimester of pregnancy is also often the strangest. The border between mother and child is often unquestioned but, by about twenty eight weeks, kicks and twists and squirms make it obvious there is both symbiosis and separation. Skin can become almost translucent with enough light on it, but I wasn't able to see my daughter on this occasion.
