Daniella Cortis, My son, aged 15 (PEOPLE 2021)

This is a portrait of my son after he got home from school one day. He has a scrape on his arm from taking a corner too fast and crashed his skateboard into a wall. I wanted to photograph him just as he was in that moment, I don't like to stage manage my subjects too much. I later paid him $50 to shave his Covid mullet off.
