Tim MacTaggart, Moogerah Dam Sentinal (PLACES 2021)

This image was taken at Moogerah Dam west of Brisbane. I turned up without any shot in mind but saw several tree stumps that had been exposed due to low water levels. I captured a range of images, but this one was my favourite, shot at 14mm on a Nikon Z6. Aside from the strong subject and leading lines, the golden-brown tones in the dusty sunset perfectly complimented the ochre lichen that covered the tree and the rocks. The image was post-processed in Photoshop, where I removed a small stump in the background. It also converted to a strong, high impact black and white image!
