Theresa Lee, Luca (ANIMALS 2023)

Luca will soon turn 8 years of age. He is a retired racing Greyhound now much loved by his adoptive humans. Luca possesses one of the calmest temperaments I have ever seen and it was that aspect of his personality I have tried to capture in this portrait. The natural imperfections seen on the sandstone walling which frames Luca reflect the many hardships he must have faced during his racing career. Photographed on a cloudy day the flat light through monochrome brings an illustrative style of grey tones, perhaps echoing Luca's thoughts, as he appears to be looking out seeking a smoother path ahead.
