Melinda Brindle, Loss (PEOPLE 2026)

This photo is a perfect visual representation of a state of being. Following both physical loss from breast cancer and emotional trauma from the experience and the loss of people dear to me, this is how it now feels to be me. Somehow still smiling despite being incomplete, despite the holes in my life and heart. Still looking for the light in life, however reflected, to illuminate the dark. Still trying to be that light for others.
