Angela McIntyre, Living on the edge (ANIMALS 2022)
Every year we let the leeks in our garden bed go to seed. These balls of delicate flowers on long stems attract hundreds of bees. I’ve come to love watching the bees as they scramble over these tiny flowers, pushing their long tongues into the base of each flower to seek out the sweet nectar. It reminds me both of the beauty of nature and the important role these tiny insects play in our lives.
