The Critically Endangered Miena Cider Gum is only found in a small region of the Central Highlands of Tasmania. There are eight small stands of Cider Gum that occupy only a few hundred hectares. This image is a double exposure in camera of what is left of one of these stands of gum. This remaining tree reminded me of a horse rearing in defiance, ready to charge in its final defence against the causes of its demise. I consider this image to be a strong statement for conservation of our Tasmanian Forests. My hope is that this will inspire positive change in how we interact and care for them.
