Adrian Thornton, JUMP (People)

One boy clinging on to the steel frame after a precarious climb while the other enjoys the abandon of free fall waiting for the cool water below. A group of young people spend a 40 degree afternoon jumping into Wollongong Harbour to cool off. To make it more exciting they climb up an old steel frame and carefully walk to the edge of a beam to jump from. It's dangerous and one slip could be devastating, but the feeling of free fall, cool water and the reward of their friends respect make it all worth it. Another motivation might be the sign that makes it very clear that climbing and jumping is absolutely prohibited. I may have done this when I was younger, but simply capturing this with the camera gave me all the satisfaction I needed.
