Shaan Herbert, In the Fog House (PLACES 2021)

Originally the simple nature of geometric shapes drew me toward this composition. Drenched in early morning fog it simplified the scene, making the simple A frame shelter and the circular bush stand out. It was only after further introspection that the scene evolved into something else. Imagine, if you will, a snarling beast of a man lunging forward, out of the shadows, raging agains the observer. After all, a house is just a glorified animal shelter, covered in the garb of civility. Underneath, the man has not changed, he still harbours his animalistic urges.
