Michael Wolfe, Immortelle (PLACES 2021)
Immortelles or everlastings are unique arrangements of ceramic flowers and symbolic objects preserved in glass globes and placed on graves. Like little gardens of life and death - jardin de la vie et de la mort. That they are so fragile is an obvious yet delightful irony. I’m drawn to their links to ruminations on human frailty, and the art and literature of mortality, legacy and what we leave behind.
