William Gladstone, Holding On (ANIMALS 2025)

As the world around it swirls in constant motion a White’s seahorse anchors itself with its prehensile tail and beats its fins to counteract the force of the surge. Seahorses can beat their fins so rapidly they reach ‘flicker fusion’, the point where our eyes can’t resolve the individual beats and the fins become invisible.
