Joel Evans, Holding down lunch (ANIMALS 2023)
While walking around a local bushlands park, I noticed several Double-barred finches feeding on the seed heads of large grasses that surrounded the walking path. Laying down in a depression in the path I was able to get nice and low just as one of the finches grabbed a seed head and pulled it down to the ground using its tiny body weight. Once there it held the seed head under its little foot and started feeding on all the seeds - only a few metres away from me. Taken on Sony A9ii + 200-600mm 1/1600 sec, f8 ISO-400
