Tebani Slade, Hoa (PEOPLE 2021)

Hoa, 86, proudly holds a photo of her younger self. Now no longer able to walk, she pulls herself across the floor to greet me at her door. She talks of the past and the days where she once worked for the United States at the Saigon airpot during the Vietnam War.
