Fleeing Burundi, Thereze grew up in a refugee camp in East Africa, at 19 became part of the Australian Humanitarian visa program. Her inner belief to take all of life’s opportunities, graduating with a Bachelor of Science & Double Degree in Science & I.T. Now Maths Teacher cum Interpreter, at 35, she feels empowered by helping people learn to swim as a Bicultural Aquatic Assistant for The Aqua English Project in Brisbane and brings joy as a regular Comedian at the Paddo Sit Down Comedy Club. Seeing the funny side of hardship and the miscommunication of two cultures is in fact hilarious. With the pool being the place where it doesn’t matter where you came from or what you do.
