This striking composition highlights roles of and the enduring traditions of the Maasai people. Two of the young men feature intricate white chalk facial markings, often signifying specific rites of passage or ceremonial processes following circumcision. Wooden staffs held and pattern shukas worn speak to their traditions and staus as they sit in a moment of reflction, juxtaposed against a background that includes a distant electrical transmission tower, in some sort of balance between ancient cultural heritage and modern industrial expansion.
