Kaveenda Samarasinghe, Flowers of War (PLACES 2024)
This photo captures a section of the Roll of Honour at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra. The Roll of Honour is a long series of bronze panels recording the names of over 103,000 members of the Australian armed forces who have died during or as a result of warlike service, non-warlike service and certain peacetime operations. Poppies adorn the panels of the Roll of Honour, placed beside names as a small personal tribute to the memory of a particular person, or to any of the thousands of individuals commemorated there.
