During a strong southerly wind, this impressive Australian Pelican (Pelecanus conspicillatus) balanced on a granite rock at Encounter Bay, Fleurieu Peninsula. This photographic opportunity presented as the impressive wing feathers ruffled in the breeze. Illustrating a beautiful portrait as the pelican turned to show a watchful eye.
