Jacek Czajkowski, Ephemeral Architecture (PLACES 2026)

What fascinates me most about photographing the sea is that no single second will ever repeat itself. In this frame, my goal was to capture the pure energy of an element that builds monumental structures out of water for a mere split second. I waited for the exact moment the wave crashed against the rocks, erupting into thousands of frozen droplets. I deliberately chose black and white to strip away distractions and focus entirely on the sharp contrast between the brilliant white foam and the dark line of the horizon. To me, this image is a celebration of impermanence and the raw power of nature continuously creating and destroying its own masterpieces.
