Melinda Craik, Endless Horizon (PLACES 2026)
Spanning 300 metres into the Pacific, New Brighton Pier is the longest ocean pier in Australasia. This monochrome study captures the iconic structure’s symmetry and resilience, leading the eye toward a vanishing horizon where the sea and sky meet. Once a wooden 19th-century landmark, the pier was reborn in concrete in 1997, standing today as a symbol of the Christchurch community’s enduring spirit.
