It was the middle of spring, but instead of warmer days, a snow blast rolled through Fiordland. I reached Milford Sound just as the weather cleared, and fresh snow settled over Mitre Peak. The timing felt lucky. The water was calm enough for a full reflection, and the spring sun found a way through the clouds for a short moment. That soft light added warmth to an otherwise cold scene. Shooting in black and white brought out the contrast and mood. It was one of those mornings that felt quiet and still, like nature was catching its breath.
