Auslocks, a Gold Coast musician stands with his head bowed, framed by the deep shadows and the blur of streetlights, silhouettes and people passing by. His wide-brimmed hat casts a shadow over his face, obscuring his eyes but not his presence. Thick dreadlocks fall forward each lock is evidence to his identity, each depicting a story. “Dreading the Street” captures the tension between self and space, presence and anonymity. It is a portrait of a man both rooted in and removed from the world around him. It is a moment of quiet resistance and reflection, where every strand of hair and shadow speaks louder than words.
