Robin McTaggart, Down it Comes on Christmas Day (PLACES 2024)

A big storm battered the Lamington Plateau in Queensland on Christmas Day in 2023. From O'Reilly's Rain Forest Retreat the progress of the approaching storm could be seen all afternoon. At this particular moment half way across the Plateau the size and severity could first be observed — a massive warm convection updraft had cooled and its contents were crashing back to earth spreading over the Plateau. Lightning lit up the sky. This was a special sight to mark the beginning of a long and noisy night.
